linuX-gamers
live.linuX‑gamers.net (often just called linuX‑gamers) is a gaming‑focused Linux distribution designed to boot and play directly from removable media such as a CD, DVD, or USB drive—no installation required. It was built on top of Arch Linux to provide a minimal desktop environment centered around games rather than productivity software. The idea was to create a portable “boot‑and‑play” arcade full of native Linux games that could run on almost any x86 PC with sufficient resources.
The distribution was available in multiple editions, including a Lite ISO/CD with a smaller selection of games and a Big ISO/DVD containing a much larger library of open‑source titles (see below), plus support for proprietary ATI/NVIDIA drivers. The most recent release known was version 0.9.7 from May 2011.
