Crunchbang
CrunchBang Linux (often stylized as #!) was a lightweight, Debian-based distribution created by Philip Newborough. Built around a customized implementation of the Openbox window manager, it was designed to be a fast, modern operating system that used minimal system resources. This made it an excellent choice for older hardware or users who preferred a minimalist, highly efficient computing environment. The final official release, version 11, was published in May 2013.
What set CrunchBang apart was its balance between simplicity and flexibility. It offered a clean, uncluttered interface while still giving users full control through configuration files and lightweight tools. Despite its small footprint, it included carefully selected applications and sensible defaults, allowing users to be productive immediately after installation.
